2024 was a transformative year for Mission Zero. Over the past 12 months, we’ve raised £21.8 million in Series A funding, started putting our second and third DAC systems on the ground, and almost doubled our team.
It’s safe to say, there’s a lot to process. We’ve compiled our biggest moments into our first DACtion Report to provide an honest look into what it takes to develop a brand new climate technology. Here’s a taste of what to expect.
Putting DAC on the ground
For DAC to scale, it needs to get out of the lab and into the real world as quickly as possible. 2024 has been a testament to that ambition at Mission Zero, as we close the year with three DAC systems taking shape on the ground around the world.
Our first-of-a-kind plants with the University of Sheffield, O.C.O Technology, and Deep Sky each prove DAC’s readiness to serve very different use cases — from creating sustainable aviation fuel and carbon-negative building materials from air, to permanently removing carbon from our atmosphere.
Explore our first three systems and the progress we made this year in delivering DAC.
Prioritising rapid innovation
We are already reaping the rewards of this rapid deployment by integrating real-world performance learnings to quickly improve our tech. These early data feedback loops have already enabled a 60% cost reduction between our first and third systems.
A mass of research and development breakthroughs in our London labs sit inside of that single figure, which include:
- Conducting 75 experiments to refine our systems’ carbon capture and release loops
- Testing 21 membranes and 7 solvents — some of the building blocks that sit at the core of our systems
- Achieving 97.4% CO₂ purity in our lab, ensuring high-quality outputs for diverse use cases

Building a global community for climate innovation
We’re immensely grateful for the brilliant individuals and organisations who have contributed to our mission this year — from our dedicated MZT team and forward-thinking investors, to the talented contractors, innovative suppliers, and research partners who have worked tirelessly behind the scenes.
Here’s what Mission Zero’s community looks like in a snapshot:
- 41 people now make up our core team — which is a 78% growth in headcount
- Our projects this year supported 264 jobs
- We partnered with 63 suppliers to drive innovation and deployment
- 50% of our leadership team identify as women
